Meet Angie
IEP Coach, Signing Time Instructor, Sports Mom, Advocate, Crafter
.Who is Angie Willey?
Angie is passionate about advocating for special needs families. She has a son with Down Syndrome and has been active in the special needs community for 9 years. Angie began advocating for better, more effective special education programs after experiencing first hand the challenges of our school systems as a parent. When she had an advocate attend her own child's IEP, she learned how important it was to have someone in the room on her son's side. Angie's mission is to educate and empower parents and professionals on how to design and implement special education programs for success. As a parent of a child who has Down syndrome and Celiac Disease, Angie understands what is like to be raising a child with special needs in our community. and the struggles families face in both the education and medical communities. In addition to being an IEP coach for families, Angie is a certified Signing Time Instructor for teaching sign language to hearing children up to age 10. The only thing more important than giving a child a way to communicate with the world around them is to give them love. Our community needs professionals and businesses who want to improve the experiences of the Special Needs Family and Angie makes that happen through onsite trainings, social media outreach strategies and participating in networking organizations. . Angie has worked in works in many different settings, from large conferences such as speaking nationally at the National Down Syndrome Congress convention, to smaller group workshops across Nebraska, and also provides one to one family consulting. As the mom to 3 boys who all love sports, she can often be found sitting in the bleachers cheering on her local teams. She relaxes at home by crocheting, cutting vinyl and paper on her Cricut, beading or taking photographs. |
Highlights About Angie

Established in 2017As a parent of a child with special needs, I have met many awesome families in the special needs community. As a communication coordinator for the local Down syndrome community over the last 7 years I have heard many families express their support needs. One common area were families feel they need more support is with their loved one's IEP. That is why when the opportunity arose to be mentored by a seasoned advocate and teacher, I jumped at the chance
